19 points?! 19 damn points? What the hell happened? Well Drizzy Daum had 18 points and 14 rebounds but that wasn’t the best performance of the night. Matt Mooney, who ironically if you take out one letter in his last name it’d be money was money on offense for South Dakota. 30 points and he even drained his 1,000 point as a Coyote in the beat down of the Jacks.
Dude is a straight shooter. Good players aren’t afraid to take their shots and he definitely is looking. It also helps that Mooney and the Coyotes got a career-night outta Triston Simpson who finished with a career-high 20 but it was the lockdown defense that USD head coach Craig Smith rung up.
It was raining three-points early and there were a combined 54 in the game but the Rabbits just folded once the Coyotes started to run away.
This isn’t over. Not even close to being over. I don’t know if these two teams had each other but they are competitive. In any game between these two I’d give the edge to the home team considering the two are combined 20-1 this season. The Coyotes got to the table in round one but round two in Brookings on Feb. 22 could very well be a different story. And a third round in the Summit League tournament? Who knows.
One thing is for sure, watching Daum and Mooney go back and forth on the court is better than a hand job and hand job’s are under rated.
