Clanks, Buckets and Steals: Sunday Funday

Summit League Women’s Basketball

College of St. Mary (0-10) 58 @ Omaha (6-2) 81

-College of St. Mary was undersized to the max in this game and Omaha took advantage of that. The Mavericks outrebounded CSM 36-24 and used their length to force 19 Flame turnovers. Omaha also had 38 points in the paint.

-This was the game of short haired ladies. At least five student-athletes had semi short hair and it was just something that caught my eye during the game.

-Maverick forward Jess Walter was the best player on the court. She finished with 25 points (a career-high) and made the Flames look silly at times.

#4 Louisville (8-0) 68 @ South Dakota State (6-2) 64

-Not sure why the hell Louisville would make a stop inside Frost Arena at the beginning of December but it happened. And they almost fukn lost. God is punishing all Cardinal sports for what Rick Pitino may or may not have done.

-The Jackrabbits had a 12-point lead after the first quarter but everyone inside Frost knew that Louisville would make it a game late. SDSU got outscored 45-33 in the second half to win, 68-64. Made sense that one of Louisville’s best players scored all but two of her points in the final two quarters.

-Jackrabbits have the best defense in the Summit League and held the Cardinals to a season-low in points.

-Madison Guebert didn’t have the best game but her seven points puts her just 42 points from 1,000 on her career.
