With fingers crossed, this is something that I want to do every night/the next morning. There’s a pile of men’s and women’s basketball teams in the Midwest. Obviously, since I’m just one dude I cannot physically watch/cover every team in that area. I plan to recap the Summit League with clanks, buckets and steals from every game that night. I’m a humongo women’s basketball fan love it or hate it. But I love ball. So, every night/the next morning I’ll have a recap of basketball stuff that happened that night.
Summit League Men’s basketball
Cayman Islands Classic @ Cayman Islands Classic — Wyoming (3-0) 77, South Dakota State (3-2) 65
South Dakota State super rabbit, Mike Daum under performed and his team lost. It’s that easy. Daum played fukn 37 minutes finished with 10 points and went 2-for-12 from the floor including 1-for-6 from thee-point land. Both his parents played sports at Wyoming and Daum shit the bed. A game that featured 48 fouls and 40 turnovers, to say it was a sloppy one doesn’t do it justice. The Cowboys finished the game on a scary 21-8 run to start the season a three-game win streak.
2017 Progressive Legends Classic @ Malibu, Calif. (Firestone Fieldhouse) — Montana (3-1) 69, Oral Roberts (1-3) 64
Is Montana the worst at shooting three-pointers? Nah at least not yet. But 18.2 percent ain’t good. However, if you can edge out a five-point win with that shitty percentage, take that to the bank and hide it. Michael Oguine and Ahmaad Rorie went a combined 3-of-13 from the beyond the arc. Ouch. Oral Roberts trailed by seven at the half and by 11 with under four minutes to go. Golden Eagles leading scorer Austin Ruder/Missouri State transfer (19 points) banged a three that started a run for ORU with 3:47 to play. Ruder’s got a nice shot. ORU pulled within three with 25.4 after a Montana timeout but played the foul game to end the final 22 seconds.
Summit League Women’s basketball
Arkansas (3-1) 77 @ Oral Roberts (1-3) 66
Just one game featured a Summit League team last night and that was Oral Roberts as they hosted Ar-Kansas. Faith Ihim scored her 1,000 career point off a fourth quarter layup to become ORU’s 20th student-athlete to score 1,000 points.
If your first name is Faith, no matter what you do in your life it’ll be accomplished. But the Golden Eagles couldn’t get the win as they fell 77-66. ORU had no answer for Malica Monk and Devin Cosper as they combined for 45 points. Might be one of the best one-two punches around the women’s basketball world.
